Life of the Pond - Pied Shags.

	Other Names: Karuhiruhi, Pied Cormorant. Size: 80cm The Pied Shag is black above and has a white face, throat and underside. Blue eyering, yellow wattle in front of eye.
	These are infrequently seen at the pond.
	This Pied Shag was sitting miserably on the side of the pond and ignored people walking by him. His left leg was very swolen as it had a small fishhook caught in his foot. I picked him up and Geoff removed the hook.
